I Ching Guide

I Ching Coin Method

The three-coin method is a compact way to build an I Ching hexagram. Six tosses form six lines, read from bottom to top.

Try the Coin Method

Six lines from bottom to top

Each toss creates one line. Together, the six lines form the present hexagram. Changing lines show where the situation is unstable, opening, or turning.

Old yin

A changing broken line. Receptive energy is shifting toward yang.

Young yang

A stable solid line. Active energy holds its form.

Question style

Ask what is changing, what the situation asks of you, or what pattern is shaping the moment. The I Ching is strongest when the question welcomes nuance.
